The Atal Incubation Centre- Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (AIC-CCMB) is hiring a Senior Science Communicator for its program, Centre for Predictive Human Model Systems 

About the Centre for Predictive Human Model Systems 

CPHMS is India’s premier science & policy think tank founded by the Atal Incubation Centre-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (AIC-CCMB) and Humane Society International, India in 2019. 

It advocates for the development of state-of-the-art, human-relevant scientific advances in India such as 3D bio-printed tissues, organoids, microfluidic organ chips and other predictive models of human health and disease. The Centre strives to effectively replace the use of animals in biomedical research and drug discovery with these technologies that have brought us closer than ever to mimicking human physiology. 

Towards this, it is involved in awareness and outreach through insightful newsletters, conducts research to explore the landscape of microphysiological systems in India and runs various capacity-building programs such as webinars, workshops, lecture courses and roundtables. These initiatives are achieved through a continuous dialogue with different communities that include academia, industry, Indian regulatory and funding bodies. 

The Team
We are a small team of five members, with backgrounds that are a combination of biology and science communications. 

About the position
We are looking for a dedicated science communicator who resonates with CPHMS’ outlook. As our future team member, you should be enthusiastic about building human-centric science initiatives and particularly, have the knack to relay scientific content to expert and non-expert audiences in written and oral communication formats.  

You will

  • Be the senior liaison for communications initiatives at CPHMS
  • Conduct analysis of public domain information/ literature and write scientific articles/ lay summaries that explore advances in human-relevant research.
  • Routinely monitor peer-reviewed academic literature in the above areas and cover it in the form of blogs/ blurbs for newsletters, websites etc.
  • Write and apply for grants
  • Organise, curate content and host national/ international lecture courses, workshops, conferences and webinars
  • Monitor email communications and run campaigns on social media (set goals, define an audience, create a calendar, track performance, etc.). 
  • Assist day-to-day activities of CPHMS and AIC-CCMB

You are the right person for the job if you 

  • Are a Masters in life sciences with 1-2 years of work experience in research/ science communications
  • Have a proven track record of science writing in academic and communications formats  
  • Are willing to grasp new scientific concepts, have high attention to written communications and are willing to meet deadlines
  • Have an excellent command of English and an interest in public speaking
  • Have basic proficiency in the professional use of social media and email campaigns
  • Are willing to travel to promote CPHMS initiatives
  • Knowledge of Canva and videography/ video editing skills would be an asset

Reports to
Chief Manager, CPHMS

We offer

  • A full-time, 1-year contractual position in Hyderabad (AIC-CCMB, renewable) with a salary of INR 50,000-55,000/ month
