INVESTMENT ADVISOR
The Atal Incubation Centre – Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (AIC-CCMB) is a technology business incubator that backs deep science start-ups. Launched at CSIR-CCMB, Hyderabad, as part of the Atal Innovation Mission by NITI Aayog, Government of India in 2017, this centre has swiftly become a focal point for life sciences and biotechnology start-ups and MSMEs from Telangana and across the country. We are seeking an Investment Advisor to join our core team and strategically invest in promising start-ups within our incubation program.
The Investment Advisor will have a crucial role in fostering the growth of promising start-ups in our incubation centre. Responsibilities include identifying, assessing, and investing seed capital in early-stage ventures with significant growth prospects. This position demands a deep understanding of the start-up landscape, financial expertise, and a dedication to fostering innovation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The person will be primarily responsible to support all functions related to managing investments by the incubation centre for the corpus of funds created by Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), NIDHI Seed Support System (SSS) scheme of NSTEDB and other programs at AIC-CCMB.
- Source and Identify Deals: Actively participate in start-up events, demo days, and industry meetups to identify promising ventures.
- Deal Evaluation and Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, including market analysis, financial projections, and team evaluation.
- Investment Recommendation & Portfolio Management: Present investment proposals to the investment committee and advise on investment methods and manage the incubation center’s seed fund portfolio.
- Post-Investment Support: Provide ongoing mentorship and support to portfolio companies in areas such as business strategy, fundraising, and growth hacking.
- Develop and Maintain Relationships: Build strong relationships with start-ups, investors, mentors, and other stakeholders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Track & Analyze Performance: Monitor portfolio performance, measure key metrics, and report on investment outcomes.
- Networking and promotional activities: Represent the incubator in various forums and expos to attract CSR and other investments, as well as conducting workshops and mentoring sessions for financial management
- Any other activities and duties assigned by the incubator
DESIRED SKILLS:
Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to rapidly understand and evaluate markets, companies, and technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, or a related field.
- Proven track record of identifying and evaluating early-stage investment opportunities.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for the start-up ecosystem and a strong understanding of early-stage investing.
Bonus Points
- Experience working in an incubation centre or accelerator environment.
- Angel investing experience.
- Knowledge of specific industry verticals aligned with the incubation centre’s focus.
